Description: This five hour course is taught by the University's Public Safety & Transportation Department. It is unique in the aspect that the techniques do not rely on size and strength, and can easily be learned and retained. The course is divided into four topics. The first unit examines the psychological aspect of sudden attack upon the body. The second unit explains prevention psychology. We examine the dangers of alcohol, date rape drugs, acquaintance, and stranger rape. The third unit covers managing social or professional physical harassment. Control techniques for physical harassment in the workplace and social functions are stressed in this section. The last unit covers sexual assault countermeasures. When confronted with a criminal sexual assault, the techniques taught in this section can be used to neutralize the assailant. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
